The Nympsfield Fleet
This page will be updated with latest status of our Gliders, Tugs and Winch
Updated :
14:58 on Friday 11th of June 2010
All the club gliders are maintained by club members under our "Adopt a Glider" scheme
Each glider in the fleet has a team leader who, in turn, relies on the efforts of other volunteers
This system has worked over the last couple of winters through the efforts of a very small number of helpers
Although each glider has a small team looking after it, if you find any problems please don't just put a note in the DI book & leave for someone else to sort.
Let the duty instructor, an Inspector, the Glider's team leader (Adoptee?), or, if all else fails, me know & we can try to get the problem sorted ASAP.
After many years of effort by a small number of qualified volunteers the majority of maintenance on the club tugs is now being done professionally
News
The K13 has been de-rigged a week early (ARC expires on 19th June) because of damage to the port aileron. After removing many layers of "Bodge" tape Ian Hey has found most of the fabric on the front half of the fuselage to be rotten (the back end is probably no better.)
Returning the glider to service will take either
- Lots of money (Not really an option for this aircraft)
- Lots of enthusiasm - the more members who help, the less required from each individual
- Lots of time - mostly waiting for the above money or enthusiasm
If you are keen to see this glider flying again then please offer to help
Contact me (Kevin) or Ian Hey at the club
Don't sit back and rely on "the usual suspects", they did most of the Cs of A and it's their turn to go flying
The glass fleet is in service after the C of A season, thanks to the efforts of, in no particular order; Nigel Smith, Ian Price, Steve Leslie, Martin Greathead, Simon Robinson, Mark Thompson, Steve Parker, Richard Starling, Andy Davis, Chandra, Sid, Tim, Trevor Wilcock, Jon French and a few others
If I've missed you out the please let me know and I'll update the list
If you fly club gliders regularly and are not on the above list then I look forward to hearing from you next year!

The club relies on a small number of members who quietly keep the kit up & running enabling the rest of us to fly.
If you wish to help with maintenance of any of the club kit then please let me know, and I'll point you at the right person.
If any of the above is inaccurate, or you feel I've not given credit where it's due then please let me know.
